December 2025: Tom is our first PhD student! He was selected as part of the 2025 IMPRS cohort, the Institute's international PhD program (see more about the program here). He completed a one-month rotation in our lab and is now part of the team. Learn more about him and his scientific career in the Lab members tab!

November 2025: Ivana is joining our growing team as a Research assistant! Learn more about her and her scientific career in the Lab members tab!

October 2025: Emilia is coming back to the lab as a student assistant along with completing her Master of Molecular Medecine at the University of Freiburg.

September 2025: The lab was awarded an ERC-Starting grant for the project "TEASEr" (Transposable Elements as Architects Shaping Embryonic development)! 🥂🧬

July 2025: Our article is featured on the cover of Nature Genetics! 🥳

Juliane's postdoc paper with the lab of Stefan Mundlos made it in the cover of Nature Genetics. See the related paper here.

This cover art was designed by Dr. Anna Monaco (MPI for Molecular Genetics, Berlin). It represents a limb with digits desintegrating into viral particles, illustrating our findings that viral-like particles cause a limb developmental malformation.

June 2025: Emilia joins the lab! She will be working as a summer student for two months.

March 2025: Meike joins the lab! She is the first member of the group and is instrumental in kicking off our lab. She will be working as an intern until the end of August 2025.
